Since mid-January, the conservative local TV conglomerate Sinclair Broadcast Group has turned to Mark Morgan, Trump’s former acting chief of Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), nearly a dozen times for commentary on immigration. But Morgan, who recently joined an extremist anti-immigrant organization, has a history of making numerous extreme and false statements about the topic during the Trump administration -- such as defending Trump’s family separation policy and applauding the Trump administration for detaining children in cages.

Acting Homeland Security Secretary David Pekoske issued a memo hours after President Biden’s inaugural Wednesday setting strict limits for arresting and deporting immigrants while the department reviews its policies and practices.
