On Saturday, the Women’s March on Washington will kick off what opponents of the incoming administration hope will be a new era of  demonstrations against the Republican agenda. But in some states, nonviolent demonstrating may soon carry increased legal risks — including punishing fines and significant prison terms — for people who participate in protests involving civil disobedience.

This is how elections are systematically controlled. Over 1.5 million florida residents convicted of felonies are banned for life from voting. The majority of these voters are black and vote democrat. With their votes Florida would have fallen democrat.

ICE contracted with Palantir, founded by Trump adviser Peter Thiel, to create an intelligence-sharing database used to track and deport immigrants. Working closely with a president-elect who has pledged to dramatically expand ICE, Thiel’s varied connections to the immigration agency place him in a position to potentially benefit financially from a deportation campaign that carries highly personal stakes for millions of Americans.
